The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most revolutions in a number of industries, where the devices are interconnected to collect, analyze, and act on data in real-time. This network of smart devices is transforming how we live, work, and interact with our environment. The key components of IoT include sensors, communication networks, data processing units, and actuators. Sensors collect real-time data from the environment, which is then transmitted via communication networks to centralized data processing systems. These systems analyze the data and trigger appropriate actions through actuators, thereby enabling seamless automation and control. The efficiency of energy harvesting systems is a critical factor, influencing the feasibility of their application in various IoT scenarios. The rapid progress that is achieved in materials science and microelectronics are driving improvements in energy conversion efficiency and storage capabilities. Wireless communication protocols play a significant role for connecting solar-powered IoT sensors and ensures efficient data transmission while minimizing power consumption. Battery storage solutions would be needed to run on solar-powered IoT sensors while ensuring a consistent and reliable power supply especially during time of low sunlight. Solar-powered sensors are beneficial for environmental monitoring, as they work independently anywhere like rural locations
