Abstract
Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a serious complication of monochorionic twin pregnancies, characterized by unequal blood sharing between twins through placental vascular connections. This condition can lead to significant morbidity and mortality if not identified and managed promptly. This review explores the clinical outcomes associated with TTTS, emphasizing factors that influence prognosis and the effectiveness of current treatment modalities. A comprehensive analysis of recent therapeutic interventions, including fetoscopic laser ablation and amnioreduction, was conducted to evaluate survival rates, neurological outcomes, and the long-term health status of affected twins. The findings indicate that early diagnosis, accurate staging, and timely intervention play a crucial role in improving perinatal outcomes. Fetoscopic laser therapy, in particular, has demonstrated improved survival rates and reduced neurological complications compared to conventional management approaches. This review also identifies key predictors of adverse outcomes such as late diagnosis, advanced disease stage, and inadequate access to specialized care. These factors highlight the importance of regular prenatal monitoring and early referral to specialized centers for optimal management. In conclusion, TTTS remains a high-risk condition that requires prompt recognition and intervention. However, continued research and clinical awareness are essential to enhance survival and quality of life for both donor and recipient twins.
