Effect of Nano-Fillers on the Mechanical and Fracture Behavior of Polymer Composite Matrices: A ReviewBy Yahaya Kudush Kawa, Salamatu Haja Bah
Abstract: The modification of polymer composite matrices through the incorporation of nano-scale fillers has become a prominent and highly effective strategy for enhancing mechanical performance, stiffness, and fracture resistance. Unlike conventional micro-scale reinforcements, nano-fillers possess exceptionally high surface area–to–volume ratios and unique physicochemical characteristics that significantly influence interfacial phenomena within the polymer matrix. Materials, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs), nano-silica, and layered silicate nanoclays, introduce advanced toughening mechanisms …

Seasonal Assessment of Water Quality of Hand-Dug Wells Used for Drinking and Agricultural Purposes in Makeni, Northern Province, Sierra LeoneBy Yahaya Kudush Kawa, Gibrilla Thullah, Victoria Olufemi Danke Kawa, Prince T. Mabey
Abstract: The study assesses four Wells’ groundwater quality in terms of its suitability for agricultural irrigation and drinking purposes. From January to December 2024, the following physicochemical parameters pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), ammonia, nitrate, fluoride, and chromium were examined. To evaluate each Well’s overall water quality, the water quality index (WQI) was computed. Well two (90.56) and Well three (71.14) WQI values show that the water …
