Dr Balaram Kundu is currently Professor in the Department of Mechanical
Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He received his Ph.D. degree in
Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India in 2000. He worked as a Research Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea for two years and nine months under the Brain Korea 21 program. He has also visited Hanyang University several times as a Visiting Research Professor. His area of expertise includes analytical heat transfer, solar collector, thermal insulation, extended surface heat transfer, fin-and-tube heat exchanger, biological heat transfer, electro-osmotic flow, etc. He is the author of more than 95 technical papers
published in referred international journals. Several book chapters have also been written. He is recipient of institutional medal for the best paper published in the Journal of the Institution of Engineers (India), Outstanding Faculty Award – the VIFFA 2015, Outstanding Scientist Award – VIFRA 2015, CEE Teacher’s excellence award 2015, Distinguished Scientist – VIRA 2017, Outstanding Teacher – TEA 2018, etc. He is an editorial board member of several international journals. He has visited several countries like Japan, USA, UK, Thailand, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, China, etc. for the collaborative research work purpose. He has given a few keynote talks in international conferences.
