A Review on the Use of Nano-Silica in Cementitious Compositions
Abstract: With the advent of nanotechnology, the material properties of the concrete industry, allows engineers and architects to use various materials in structural applications that were once impossible. Nowadays, the researchers are mainly focusing on the basic technology of cementitious material at nano/atomic level. The researchers are continuing to improve the durability and sustainability of concrete and have realised significant enhancement in mechanical properties of nano-silica incorporated cementitious materials. This review …

Fracture and Failure of Recycled Aggregate Concrete (RAC) – A Review
Abstract: In the world, many countries put into effect the renewal plans and/or the laws and/or the regulations for recent engineering structures which have reached their lifetime, are risk prone and have been built lacking quality engineering, or without considering urban planning. Hence, many structures are demolished and this situation increases the amount of construction and demolition waste (C & DW). Also, resource consumptions are rapidly increased due to excessive constructional …

A Review- State of Art on Hot Weather Concreting and Rheology of Cement-Based Materials
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to explore the important mechanisms that control the rheology of cement based materials under hot weather conditions. The effect of hot weather on the fresh and mechanical properties of concrete was investigated. The paper presents some of the practices taken to alleviate the effects of hot weather on concreting. The rheological properties of Portland cement paste and concrete were discussed using both the conventional …

Influence of Type and Size of Fine Aggregate on Glass Fiber Reinforced Self-Compacting Mortars (GFRSCM)
Abstract: Abstract This paper addresses the fresh and hardened state behavior of glass fiber reinforced self-compacting mortars (GFSCMs) with various types and sizes of fine aggregate. Mini-slump flow and mini V-funnel tests were performed to evaluate the workability of GFSCMs. Compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength tests at the end of 28 days of water curing were determined. Water sorptivity tests were conducted on 28-day cured cube specimens. The …
