Lipoxygenase (LOX) enzyme activity ofwheat during grain filling period under conservation agriculture management
Abstract: For smooth and wider adoption of conservation agriculture (CA), remaining uncertainties about its impacts on quality crop yield need to be reduced through study of physiological performance. The objectives of this study were to examine the lipoxygenase (LOX) enzyme activity in flag leaves of wheat as an important factor influencing future grain quality during the grain filling period. This study, carried out over two consecutive wheat growth seasons (rabi season …

Biosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Plant Extract
Abstract: In recent years, research in nanotechnology deals with the development of environmental-friendly processes for the synthesis of stable nanoparticles, possessing well-defined shapes, and controlled narrow sizes. Additionally, due to a vast demand for precious metals (like silver) in the fields such as electronics and catalysis, recovery of silver from both primary and secondary sources is of most significance. Biological recovery of precious metals with the formation of their nanoparticles is …

Experimental Investigation of the Ethno-medicinal Plant Leaf Polygonum chinense Linn
Abstract: Ethno-medicinal plants are a great source of herbal drugs. These plants have no side effect and are very effective. Therefore there is a tremendous increase in the interest of domestic manufacturers of herbal based medicines. Spectroscopic techniques can be employed for qualitative and quantitative analysis of plants leaf extract. Polygonum chinense Linn, also locally known as Modhu Huleng in Assam belongs to the family Polygonaceae. It is used as food …

Ecological threat to Bacopa monnieri: An Assessment
Abstract: Now –a- days the anthropogenic activities are so aggressive that they become serious threat to the plants especially the herbs which has even the immense medicinal property but they totally dependent on the upper sol surface not only the direct influence but the indirect influence of the human activities like increase in the temperature of the earth crust, water deficit due to decrease water level of the earth, directly influence …

Nitric Oxide & Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase: A Glimpse on Biological Role
Abstract: Nitric oxide (NO) is a multifunctional molecule having numerous physiological and pathophysiological functions. It is synthesized from L-arginine by three different isoforms of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), which are categorized into two subtypes; constitutive nitric oxide synthase (cNOS) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). Constitutive nitric oxide synthase (cNOS) is constitutively expressed in the cells, while inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) is expressed within several hours after the stimulation of …

Bacterial Diversity of Decomposing Leaf Litters of Polyalthia longifolia (Sonner.) Thw. and Rhododendron arboreum Sm. Under Natural Condition
Abstract: The role of microorganisms in the decomposition of plant material is of immense importance. A large amount of plant litter is added annually to the soil through leaf fall and death of plants. As the plant materials fall on the ground, they are immediately attacked by various groups of soil microorganisms and soon after, the process of decomposition is initiated. Microorganisms being heterotrophic in their mode of nutrition are responsible …

Phytoremediation of Lead by Brassica juncea and Vetiver zizanioidus
Abstract: The engineering-based remediation technologies of heavy metals from contaminated soil are time consuming, expensive, and create noise to the environment. Accumulation of heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr, and Ni is destructive to not only plants and animals but also to complete ecosystem. Lead contamination keeps on increasing day by day from industrial waste, paints, ceramics, use of biosolids, and many more. Metals cannot easily degrade, so effective …

Seaweed Mediated Biosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Gracilaria fergusonii J.Ag. Collected From Hare Island, Thoothukudi in the South East Coast of Tamil Nadu, India
Abstract: In the present study silver nanoparticles were synthesized using the aqueous extract of red seaweed Gracilaria fergusonii J.Ag. as the reducing agent. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by colour change from light yellow to dark brownish red, UV– visible spectroscopy, FT-IR, X-ray diffraction method (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis spectroscopy (EDS). The anoparticles showed an absorbance at 442 nm on UV–visible spectroscopy. The …
