Economical Size of Over Head Tanks
Abstract: Storage reservoirs and overhead tanks are used for the storage of various products like water, liquid petroleum, petroleum products and similar liquids. For a very high value of height and diameter cost of overhead water tank higher as width of vertical increases due to hoops stress. Similarly, for very low value of cost of overhead water tank is higher as diameter of tank increases, more no. of columns and footings …

Comparison of Mean Depth of Flow Obtained by Maximum Permissible Velocity and Adam–Basforth Method
Abstract: The equation is formed for mean depth of flow and mean velocity of flow with respect to maximum permissible velocity and maximum value of Manning’s roughness coefficient. It is found that the mean depth of flow obtained from maximum permissible velocity provides nearly equal value compared with mean depth of flow obtained from 0.75-inch roughness bed flume data. The depth of flow obtained from Adam–Basforth method provides nearly equal value …

Application of Surface Water Quality Classification Models Using Principal Components Analysis and Cluster Analysis
Abstract: Water quality monitoring has one of the highest priorities in surface water protection policy. Many variety approaches are being used to interpret and analyze the concealed variables that determine the variance of observed water quality of various source points. A considerable proportion of these approaches are mainly based on statistical methods, multivariate statistical techniques in particular. In the present study, the use of multivariate techniques is required to reduce the …

Decision tree method (Flexibility in adaptation - FIA) for evaluating the flexibility of flood risk adaptation options in Lad Krabang, Thailand
Abstract: Flexibility in planning and implementation of responses to prevent and adapt to flooding can be achieved using methods such as Real in Option (RIO), Adaptation Tipping Point (ATP) and Adaptation Pathway. However these methods lack the ability to evaluate the degrees of flexibility of the adaptation measures. Hence, this paper proposes a method for evaluating and making a comparison between a numbers of different flood prevention plans in terms of …

Analysis of Economical Design of RCC Water Tanks
Abstract: The various overhead water tanks are constructed for direct distribution by gravity flow without pumping and are usually of capacities ranging from 50 to 3000 KL. All the tanks are designed as crack free structures to reduce any leakage. The present paper gives view for safe design with low cost of the tank and gives the designer relationship curve between design variable. Thus, design of tank can be more reliable, …
