The rapid growth and development of cities raise significant sustainability concerns, highlighting the need for strategic urban planning that integrates policies, principles, and stakeholder perspectives. Land, a critical resource, is often misused and underutilized due to unregulated urban expansion, resource abuse, and spatial imbalances. This research paper focuses on the concept of “lost urban spaces,” encompassing Planning Lost Spaces and Social Lost Spaces, which lack vitality and human connection. These spaces represent areas abandoned or misused amid changing urban paradigms, revealing a knowledge gap in their identification and utilization within city planning. Using Lucknow’s high-potential zones as a case study, this research investigates the evolution of these lost spaces and stakeholder perspectives. Employing qualitative methods such as questionnaires, surveys, and interviews, the study proposes an inclusive planning approach involving stakeholder analysis and periodic evaluation of land use policies. This strategy aims to mitigate land misuse in rapidly urbanizing areas, fostering sustainable development and preservation of urban green spaces.
