Abstract

It is crucial to protect data in the current setting where the cloud has become a common home for storing information. This project provides a novel solution for generic file sharing and protection where data is stored in the AWS S3 system with the aid of cryptographic algorithms. In the development of the proposed system, AES and RSA modes of security are used to enhance security in the file uploading, storing and retrieval. Current approaches fail to demonstrate satisfactory scalability as well as flexibility of multiple encryption methodologies. Our approach fills the gaps in the following ways: AWS KMS (Key Management Service) for extra layers of encryption and data sanctity. The system divides files into portions, employing AES to encrypt each portion, and AES key employ RSA encryption before storing it on AWS S3. This multi-layered approach of encrypting the data helps to reduce the possibility of an unauthorized person breaking into the information database. The testing is effective in the showcase of project effectiveness with improved data security while at the same time demonstrating substantial added performance. Subsequent versions will build upon the current encryption scheme and include improvements like on-the-fly threat identification and automatic key swapping to bolster security. This project has positioned itself as one of the most secure solutions for file storage and management using cloud computing technology that can accommodate the needs of enterprise-sized businesses.
