Photovoltaic power generation plants have become highly popular in recent years, especially in the last decades with the various financial benefits and government incentives provided to domestic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications. Net metering and gross metering are the two methods normally employed by distribution companies to register the energy generated by photovoltaic power plant installers. This paper explores both the ideas of metering, for an industrial scale 100-kW rooftop solar photovoltaic power plant considered for calculations of payback period and return on investments using the popular solar photovoltaic software.
Key Words: Net metering, Gross Metering, Solar Power Generation, PV system.
