Abstract

ABSTRACT

High productivity and better finishing of deposited metal can be acquired by submerged arc welding process. The attainment of desirable weld bead parameters and mechanical properties of a weld are important concern in a welding process. The higher quality and cost effective welds can only be achieved by deeply understanding the welding parameters and their influence on weld metal properties. The control over the weld metal properties in a welding process is essential, which are influenced by welding input parameters as well as polarity used during the welding process. The polarity affects the extent of heat generated at both the electrodes during the welding process. This paper focus on investigating the effect of polarity on weld quality in submerged arc welding.
