Intravenous (IV) infusion therapy is an essential component of modern healthcare, widely used for administering fluids, medications, and nutrients in clinical settings. However, traditional infusion monitoring methods rely heavily on manual observation by nursing staff, which increases the risk of human error, delayed interventions, and excessive workload. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into IV infusion systems has introduced a transformative approach to real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and automated alert mechanisms. AI-enabled infusion monitoring devices utilize advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, cloud computing, and wireless communication to continuously track infusion parameters including flow rate, pressure, and volume. These systems enhance patient safety, improve nursing efficiency, and support evidence-based clinical decision-making. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of AI-enabled IV infusion monitoring devices, including their technological foundations, design and development, role of AI, impact on nursing care, clinical outcomes, challenges, and future directions.
Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, IV Infusion Monitoring, Nursing Care Optimization, IoT in Healthcare, Smart Infusion Devices, Patient Safety, Real-Time Monitoring, Clinical Decision Support.
