Play is joyful activity for children which help in growth and development, toys are the tools of the play, parents are the procurers of the toys to their children, the knowledge of parents related to selection of toys is important for purchasing toys for children based on age, as toys differs with age of child and need of child, the present study aims to assess, evaluate the knowledge of parents of 0-7years children on selection of toys and to improve knowledge of parent by teaching program. One group pretest posttest design for one hundred and nine parents of 0-7 years children were selected by simple random multistage sampling technique. A structured knowledge questionnaire designed for to collect the data and data was analyzed using SPSS 16.0. The present study found that the pretest knowledge mean score was lower than posttest mean knowledge mean score. The study found that the teaching program was effective at 108.78 in bringing improvement in knowledge score, the study also found significant no association between pretest knowledge with selected age, gender, religion, type of family, education status, parents occupation, annual income, age of children, number of children, information on selection of toys, source of information. The knowledge level improvised in posttest to almost all the parents. The study concluded that the teaching program was effective in improving the knowledge of parents regarding selection of toys, and recommended to bring large group of parent’s awareness on selection of toys to educate parents about toys that help in growth and development of skills of children.
