With the advent of independence, tribal development has emerged as a topic of both theoretical exploration and practical implementation, assuming a position of critical importance within the broader discourse of national development. At the outset, the principal aim of ‘economic development’ was conceptualized as the fundamental goal for the comprehensive progress of Arunachal Pradesh. The economy of Arunachal Pradesh was mainly a traditional tribal economy. Full statehood was conferred on Arunachal Pradesh, a state in north-eastern India, on February 20, 1987. Since then, the state is trying to be a developed state in India. The primary objective of the research is to facilitate economic and infrastructural advancement. This investigation is entirely predicated on secondary data acquired from a variety of published and unpublished scholarly articles, academic papers, literature, and government publications, among other sources. Various determinants influencing the transition toward a contemporary economic framework within the state have been examined from multiple perspectives. Several obstacles associated with this transition are analyzed. The tribal economy of Arunachal Pradesh is currently at a critical crossroads as it shifts from a conventional subsistence-oriented model to a contemporary economic structure. The forces driving this metamorphosis include infrastructure development, governmental policies, tourism, agricultural modernization, hydropower initiatives, and entrepreneurial ventures.
