Abstract

Abstract
This investigation examines edaphic characteristics in Pondicherry’s South Zone, focusing on
sustainable land management within the SDG-15 framework. Through systematic sampling at strategic
locations, the study evaluates essential soil parameters to understand their impact on terrestrial
ecosystem functionality. Laboratory analysis encompasses vital indicators including soil pH,
conductivity, organic carbon levels, nutrient availability, and textural composition. The research
reveals distinct trends in soil characteristics that are affected by human activity and local land use.
Statistical evaluation identifies significant correlations among soil parameters, highlighting the
interconnected nature of soil ecosystems. Findings indicate on sider able variations in fertility levels
and physical attributes across the study area, emphasizing the necessity for targeted conservation
strategies. This work establishes fundamental data for on-going soil health monitoring and provides
evidence-based recommendations for sustainable management practices. The insights gained support
informed decision-making for environmental conservation, directly contributing to SDG-15 objectives
while serving as a valuable resource for regional environmental planning.
