Effect of varying water temperature on concrete properties
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to determine the effects of mixing-water temperature on the compressive strength, workability and water absorption rate of concrete. Locally available materials were used. Compression tests results showed that the 7 days value of 19.52N/mm2 at 35°C was higher than the value of 9.96N/mm2 at 5°C. The 28th day results for compression test also showed similar trend. The workability of the concrete decreased as the …

Hamming Coded Watermarking for Image Authentication and Evaluation by Image Transmission using Digital Modulation Schemes
Abstract: Proposed watermarking scheme for image authentication and tampered detection. Here, image encoded with a message is generated, after embedding watermark symbol within a colour cover image. The message information is converted to hexadecimal values from its ASCII representation. To encode this and embed the watermark, (7, 4) Hamming code is used. These bits will be divided into 7-bit blocks which will spread across the width of the image. The proposed …

A Hybrid BPS-DCT Based Digital Image Watermarking Technique
Abstract: In this paper a hybrid algorithm using Bit Plane Slicing (BPS) and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) for digital image watermarking is proposed. There are two main requirements for digital image watermarking: imperceptibility and robustness. Imperceptibility is measured by Peak Signal to Noise Ratio and robustness is obtained by correlation between original and extracted watermark image. In this algorithm an image and watermark is first sliced into its bit planes using …

Cost-Constrained Sensor Reduction for Deployment AwareIoT-Based Multiclass Water Quality Monitoring
Abstract: Large-scale Internet of Things deployment for water quality monitoring systems is bounded by the capital and several other costs associated with the multi-dimensional sensor. While prior research demonstrates strong predictive performance using multi- parameter physicochemical sensing, limited attention has been given to explicit sensing cost constraints and deployment feasibility. This work formulates multiclass water quality classification as a cost-constrained learning problem in which sensing dimensionality is minimized subject to bounded …
