Innovative Application of Prefabs in Earthquake-Resistant Bridge Construction
Abstract: Abstract Pre-stressed concrete, widely known to be a prefabricated structure (Prefab in short) has long been accepted in statically loaded structures. Thus, we have seen the construction of pre-stressed concrete bridges, dams, pipelines, reservoirs and various structures including more recently atomic reactor pressure vessels. In recent years pre-stressed concrete has been specially used in seismic resistant structures. Just like any other new material, it will attract criticism and comment, sometimes …

Production of Compositionally Modulated Nanolayer Zn–Ni Alloy Coatings and Their Corrosion Behaviours
Abstract: Compositionally modulated nanolayer alloy (CNA) coatings of Zn–Ni having alternatively the same compositions have been developed galvanostatically on mild steel from single bath technique (SBT) using square current pulses. Sulphanilic acid and citric acid (CA) were used as additives. Modulation in the composition of alloys were introduced by passing a different switched cathode current densities (SCCD’S) using sophisticated power sources. Variety of CNA coatings was developed under different conditions of …

Separation of p-xylene from xylene isomer mixtures within a single stage porous batch cooling crystallizer
Abstract: Crystallization based separation of p-xylene from its isomer mixtures were mostly accomplished in stirring crystallizers, suspension crystallizer and scrapping crystallizer followed by centrifugation. In this work, separation process for p-xylene, where both crystallization and separation of p-xylene in a single batch crystallizer, was performed. Upon cooling, p-xylene, which has the higher melting point than other xylene isomers (o-xylene and m-xylene), crystallizes first. Xylene mixture samples were crystallized at a lower …
