Low temperature plasma treatment of polymeric membranes: a comparative review
Abstract: This paper presents a comparative study of plasma surface modification of various polymeric membranes. Low temperature plasma treatment using pulsed direct current discharge of different gases was employed to enhance hydrophilicity of membranes. Radio frequency discharge of various gases was used to improve surface properties of different polymeric membranes. The enhancement of hydrophilicity of the plasma modified membrane surface was evaluated by measuring the contact angle. The membranes were characterized …

Antibacterial Surface
Abstract: Surface modification of different materials to provide antibacterial properties are getting great attention in the last few decades. Formation of biofilm is one of the major reason of bacterial infections of various biomaterials. Surface coating and functionalization can prevent formation of biofilm for different applications. Formation of biofilm is a complicated process which involves several phenomena occurring over a period of time. Bacterial adhesion is the first step in the …

Studies on Functionalized Nonwoven Polypropylene Fabric for Antibacterial & Antiviral Properties
Abstract: Nonwoven polypropylene (NWPP) fabric is a versatile material used predominantly in medical field for hygiene products and for PPE applications. The application of NWPP is limited in disinfectant area due to lack of antimicrobial properties and its non-polar nature. The coating of antimicrobial agents on NWPP fibre is expected to lower down the intensity of communicable microbial infections. The present study involves the surface functionalization of NWPP fibre via plasma …

Chemical and Nanotechnological Strategies for Enhanced Alopecia Treatment
Abstract: Over 50% of individuals suffer from androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a prevalent cause of hair loss that has historically been treated with oral finasteride and topical minoxidil, however, these have inconsistent results. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling, and novel medication delivery devices are some of the recent developments in AGA treatment that are intended to enhance therapeutic results and patient satisfaction. In order to improve hair regrowth, this review looks at new …

Influence of Methanolic Extractives of Leaves of Mulberry, Morus alba (L) on the Hypercholesterolemia in Rat, Rattus norvegicus (L).
Abstract: The methanolic mulberry leaf extractives (MMLE) (at the rate of 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight ) and the standard hypolipidemic medicine Questran were administered through the diet to the rats of hypercholesterolemia (maintained on high cholesterol diet). Treatment was five times per week for the period of nine weeks. Analysis of blood plasma and it’s postmitochondrial fraction (PMF) was carried out through the bioassay of total cholesterol; triglyceride; lipid …

Utilization of Mulberry Methanolic Leaf Extractive (MMLE) for Treating Hypercholesterolemia in Rat, Rattus norvegicus (L)
Abstract: Healthy diet is the foundation for a healthier workforce and lower healthcare costs. The diet therapy for regulation of cholesterol is exerting influence to reduce mortality and morbidity. The Methanolic Mulberry Leaf Extractives (MMLE) (at the rate of 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight) and the standard hypolipidemic medicine Questran were administered through the diet to the rats of hypercholesterolemia (maintained on high cholesterol diet). Treatment was five times per …
