Finite Element Modeling for the Development and Evaluation of a Complaint Mechanism
Abstract: This paper presents the design and simulation of a complaint mechanism, emphasizing precision implementation through various studies and principles. The modeling of the complaint mechanism is conducted using CREO software, while both static and dynamic analyses are performed using ANSYS software. Through static analysis involving force considerations, the paper deduces the deflection of motion, noting that the XY structure deformation mirrors the elongation of an S-shaped cantilever beam. Comparative assessments …

Dynamic and Fatigue Analysis of Engine Crank Shaft by Using FEM Approach
Abstract: The internal combustion (ICE) engine crankshaft is a high-volume manufacturing component with a complicated shape. This converts the piston's reciprocating displacement into the crank's rotating motion. In this research, an effort is made to investigate how geometry modification might increase the fatigue life of a single-cylinder engine crankshaft. SOLIDWORK software was used to construct the modelling of the original and optimised crankshaft, which was then imported for analysis into ANSYS …

Optimisation of Ratio of Center Distance of Adjacent Hole to Diameter of Pre-stressed Holes by FEA
Abstract: Residual compressive stress zone around a fastener hole is introduced by a process called pre-stressing. This is being done to reduce adverse effect of cyclic tensile stress and to restrict the fatigue crack growth due to material flaws or imperfect surfaces. The objective of this investigation is to optimize the inter-hole distance between adjacent cold expanded holes on a plate restricting the deformation of material between holes to the elastic …

Experimental and Finite-Element Analysis of Tee Joint’s Stiffness Characteristics of A3003 Honeycomb Core Sandwich Panels
Abstract: Aluminum honeycomb is used as a core material for sandwich panels of floors, roofs, doors, partitions, working surfaces for automatic machines, and for all products which require high degree of flatness and optimal stiffness-to-weight ratio. Invariably, in the fabrication of the above panels, butt and tee joints are encountered so as to get the required complex shapes. In this paper, various edging and configuration details that have been used to …
