Abstract

Concrete as a construction material plays a significant role in infrastructures development in the world. The main constituents of concrete are cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and water. Production of cement has been emitting a huge amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Hence causing environmental pollution. Amount of fly ash generation has been increasing day by day which has also been damaging the environment in the form air, water and land pollution. In this study, attempt has been made to replace cement by fly ash and lime for the production of concrete. Two types of mix proportion like cement replaced by fly ash and cement replaced by fly ash and lime have been used to assess the variations in their properties. The concrete prepared by cement, fly ash and lime were assessed for their different properties like workability, compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength. Keywords: Fly ash, lime, cement, concrete, properties, mix proportions
