The agricultural sector faces numerous challenges, including the need for increased productivity, concentrated environmental influence, and improved food security due to a growing global population. Traditional agricultural practices frequently fall short in addressing these issues, foremost due to suboptimal crop yields and inefficient resource management. One of the pressing problems is the difficulty in real-time monitoring of soil health, plant growth, and pest infestations, which can impede timely decision-making and management strategies. Moreover, the use of conventional sensors may be limited by their size, sensitivity, and inability to provide granular data at a low cost, thus calling for innovative solutions that can overcome these limitations. This study delves into the burgeoning field of nanosensors and their transformative potential in agriculture. Nanosensors, defined as sensors with dimensions at the nanoscale, offer unparalleled sensitivity and specificity in detecting various environmental parameters, such as soil moisture, nutrient concentrations, and the presence of pathogens. By integrating nanosensors into agricultural practices, farmers can achieve real-time monitoring of crop health and soil conditions, leading to informed decision-making and increased yield efficiency. This paper reviews recent advancements in nanosensor technology, explores its applications in precision agriculture, and discusses the potential challenges and future directions for implementing these technologies in agronomic settings.
