The research analyzes the precast girder erection process, which is an integral part of bridge and elevated structure construction. It discusses the most major factors of risk towards efficiency and safety. A qualitative approach was used to analyze the erection schedule and the erection sequencing, and the Relative Importance Index (RII) and Frequency Index (FI) were used to determine the Severity Index (SI) of the risk factors. Primary risks were identified by the study as improper alignment, equipment malfunction, soft ground, communication breakdown, and lack of adequate safety guards. The research concludes that better planning, capable personnel, and better coordination of lifting means can significantly shorten erection time and improve site safety. The most critical factors involved in the precast girder management in the process of erection are the unsafe erection of cranes on soft ground, public safety in transport and erection due to interference by passing traffic or pedestrians, poor counterweight or outrigger setup, miscommunication between signalmen and operators, and the omission of crane capacity charts.
