Abstract

Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a comprehensive, multifaceted program designed to aid patients with cardiovascular disease in their recovery, improving both physical and mental health outcomes. Over the past few decades, advancements in CR programs have evolved significantly, incorporating evidence-based therapies, technology, and personalized care strategies. These improvements have shown to enhance functional capacity, reduce mortality rates, and improve the quality of life for heart disease patients. Recent studies have also emphasized the importance of patient education, psychosocial support, and tailored exercise regimens to address the unique needs of individuals with different cardiac conditions. Technological innovations, such as tele-rehabilitation, have expanded access to CR services, particularly for those living in remote areas. Furthermore, a greater focus on holistic approaches, including dietary interventions and stress management, has proven beneficial in fostering long-term health improvements. Despite these advancements, challenges such as underutilization and insufficient insurance coverage persist, limiting the full potential of cardiac rehabilitation programs. This review explores the recent advancements in CR, the evidence supporting its benefits, and the barriers to widespread implementation, highlighting the need for a more inclusive approach to cardiac care. By understanding these developments, healthcare providers can better address the complexities of heart disease rehabilitation and ultimately enhance patient outcomes.
