Abstract
The psychology of learning examines how individuals acquire knowledge and interact with their surroundings. Mental health as a field can sometimes appear unfamiliar or unclear, making it difficult to understand what the experience involves, or the role nurses play within it. Although psychology is a broad and complex discipline, learning fundamental psychological terms and concepts is an important first step toward understanding the human mind. The Feynman technique is a learning and meaning-making approach in which a person explains a new idea as if teaching a child, helping to reveal gaps in understanding and strengthen retention. In the pre-test assessment of nursing students from both BSc and GNM programs, 46 students (70.8%) demonstrated inadequate knowledge, 16 (24.6%) showed moderate knowledge, and 3 (4.6%) had adequate knowledge. After using Feynman technique of learning, post-mean knowledge scores increased to 6.91% and found to be significant at the level of p < 0.001 which indicates that Feynman technique of learning helped in increasing the knowledge about basic concepts of psychiatric nursing for nursing students. Hence the research hypothesis states that there will be no significant variable association between the level of knowledge with selected baseline variables such as age, gender, year of study, place of stay, interest in psychiatric nursing, previous knowledge, difficulty in understanding psychiatric concepts and clinical exposure to psychiatric set up. Hence H2 rejected at the level of 0.562% significance. It has been found that Feynman learning technique activates the learner, and the person used learning strategy in his/her reading abilities to study the subject with interest has increased student`s academic progress, and academic performance.
