Indian society is gradually transitioning from a traditionally conservative framework to a more open and liberal environment, leading to changing attitudes toward alcohol consumption, particularly among youth. Alcohol use is increasingly viewed as socially acceptable, despite its serious health and social consequences. Globally, harmful use of alcohol accounts for nearly 2.5 million deaths annually, including approximately 3,20,000 deaths among individuals aged 15–29 years due to alcohol-related causes. This growing concern highlights the need for increased awareness and education regarding alcoholism. A descriptive study was conducted to assess the level of knowledge regarding alcoholism among auto drivers in a selected area of Rewa city, with the aim of developing and distributing an informational booklet. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge of auto drivers concerning alcoholism, to determine the association between knowledge scores and selected demographic variables, and to prepare and disseminate an information booklet on alcoholism. A descriptive survey approach with a non-experimental research design was adopted. Sixty auto drivers were selected using a non-probability convenience sampling technique from the Old Bus Stand area of Rewa city. Data were collected using a self-structured knowledge questionnaire. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis. The results revealed that 66.6% of the participants had poor knowledge regarding alcoholism, 26.7% had an average level of knowledge, and only 6.7% demonstrated good knowledge. Chi-square analysis indicated a significant association between knowledge scores and selected demographic variables, such as religion and educational status, while no significant association was found with age, type of family, monthly income, area of residence, or previous sources of information. The study concluded that most auto drivers possessed inadequate knowledge about alcoholism, emphasizing the need for targeted educational interventions to enhance awareness of the harmful effects of alcohol consumption.
