Abstract
Introduction:Dysmenorrhea is a widespread gynecological condition marked by painful menstrual cramps caused by uterine contractions. It is classified into primary and secondary types, with primary dysmenorrhea being more common among adolescents, while secondary dysmenorrhea is typically linked to underlying pelvic disorders. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea is high globally, affecting a significant proportion of menstruating individuals, with symptoms varying in intensity from mild discomfort to severe pain that can hinder daily activities. Despite its widespread impact, dysmenorrhea often goes underdiagnosed or undertreated. Health education and awareness about its management can help alleviate symptoms, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early intervention Methods: A descriptive study design was adopted on government girls higher primary school Varuna students regarding knowledge related to management of Dysmenorrhea at government girls higher primary school Varuna, mysore.100 girl’s students were selected using convenient sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was created based on the study's objectives. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including percentages and chi-square tests. Result: In this present study ,22%of the government girls higher primary school Varuna had average knowledge regarding management of Dysmenorrhea ,73% had good knowledge and 5% had excellent knowledge. It shows that government girls higher primary school Varuna students had good knowledge. The analysis of the mean and standard deviation (SD) of the knowledge score showed a mean score of 9.94 and an SD of 3.46. Interpretation And Conclusion: The results Shows that ,22%had average knowledge ,73%had good knowledge and 5% had Excellent knowledge regarding management of Dysmenorrhea. It shows that Government girls Higher Primary School Varuna students had good knowledge. The analysis of the mean and standard deviation (SD) of the knowledge score indicated a mean of 9.94 and an SD of 3.46.
