Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting adolescent girls. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a food diary intervention in alleviating PCOS symptoms among adolescent girls. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design was used, and 30 adolescent girls with PCOS symptoms were selected for the study. The food diary intervention involved tracking daily food intake and PCOS symptoms for a period. The results showed a significant reduction in PCOS symptoms after the food diary intervention. The mean level of PCOS symptoms decreased from 7.84 (SD = 1.57) in the pretest to 4.68 (SD = 1.26) in the post-test. The paired t-test showed a statistically significant difference between pretest and post-test scores (t = 12.59, p < 0.05). The findings of this study suggest that food diary interventions can be a useful tool in reducing PCOS symptoms among adolescent girls. The study’s findings are consistent with previous research that has shown the importance of lifestyle modifications in the management of PCOS. The use of food diaries as a tool for tracking dietary habits and symptoms can be a useful addition to existing interventions. The study’s results have implications for healthcare providers, nurses, and other professionals working with adolescent girls with PCOS.
