Analysis and optimization of exergy losses in a heavy water distillation column
Abstract: Heavy water (D2O) of isotopic purity 99.9% and more is used as the moderator and the coolant in pressurized heavy water nuclear reactors (PHWRs). This purity is maintained by vacuum distillation. In the column there are various sources of irreversibility and thermodynamic inefficiency. This work presents an analysis of these losses in a typical heavy water distillation column and their dependence on various design and operating parameters of the column. …

Square Wave Pulsed Electrodeposition of Chromium from Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) Based on Choline Chloride
Abstract: Electrodeposition of chromium from hexavalent chromium ion is very toxic, carcinogenic, not environmentally benign, cathodic efficiency is low, and the quality of coating is very poor (due to H2 evolution). Ambient temperature Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) can be formed by reacting choline chloride (HOC2H4 (CH3)3Cl) with metal salts. These low cost DES are not sensitive to air and moisture and have good electro-conductivity and they do not have vapour pressure. …

Preparation and Evaluation of Nano pore Faujasite Membranes
Abstract: Nano pore Faujasite zeolite membranes were synthesized by in-situ hydrothermal method on porous ceramic tubes. Hydrothermal crystallization was carried out under an autogenously pressure and at a static condition of 100 oC. Molar composition of the starting gel of Faujasite zeolite membranes were NaX: SiO2/Al2O3=10-27, Na2O/Al2O3=4-9, H2O/Al2O3=250; NaY: SiO2/Al2O3=2.5-4, Na2O/SiO2=1.08-2, H2O/Na2O=30-200. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the membranes exhibited peaks corresponding to the support and the zeolite. The crystal species …

Several Phases of Binary Liquid Mixture
Abstract: The system’s overall composition, heat, and stress can all be changed independently. Instead of using parameters like the coordinates of a three-dimensional phase diagram, we often generate a twodimensional phase transformation that is either a thermal diagram at a specified pressure or its composition graph at a fixed temperature. The location of the system points on one of these diagrams correlates to a certain heat, stress, and normal phenomenon. As …
