Evaluations of Treatment Performance of Tangerine and Cashew Leaves in TPH Removal from Contaminated Swampy and Clay Soils
Abstract: This study evaluates the effectiveness of two plant-based treatments, Tangerine (Citrus reticulata) and Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) leaves, in the bioremediation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) from polluted swampy soil. The performance of these treatments was assessed over an 84-day period using 100g of each treatment. The results demonstrated significant degradation of TPH, with Tangerine leaf showing a slight edge over Cashew leaf in the remediation process of crude oil- contaminated …

Modeling the Biokinetic of Crude Oil Degradation inLoamy Soil Using the Citrus Sinensis of Flavedo Part
Abstract: The biokinetic parameters of crude oil degradation using Citrus sinensis of flavedo part was investigated in loamy soil environment. Mathematical models were developed for the purpose of determining the biokinetic parameters of the k1 (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon), maximum specific rate of TPH remediation and dissociation constant of the TPH remediation on the effect of remediant dosage on the polluted loamy soil environment. The effect of the remediants were monitored for …

Performance Evaluation of Azadirachta indica Leaf on Crude Oil Contaminated Soils
Abstract: The intention of this research was to ascertain the effectiveness of sun-dried and room-dried Azadirachta indica leaf at varying quantities, in the remediation of sandy and loamy soils contaminated with 100ml of crude oil. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry method was used to test for the physicochemical properties of the materials used for the experiment. The unpolluted loamy soil was observed to contain pH of 6.75, electric conductivity of 10.36µS/cm, Total Oxygen …

Biokinetic Model of Crude Oil degradation: The Integration of Moringa-Alcohol-Water Root Extracts
Abstract: Mathematical model was developed to study the crude oil degradation on the effect of moringa-alcohol-water root extracts. In different soils environment of Niger Delta area of Nigeria. The mass of moringa in alcohol and water used for this research work is 500g and 600g. In all cases the decrease with increase in the period of exposure (Time) for remediation of the contaminated soil types studied for the first order rate …

Combine Effect of Dry and Decomposed Raffia Palm in the Bioremediation of Oil-based Drill Cutting
Abstract: This study determines the effect of dry substrate and decomposed raffia palm for degradation of oil- based drill cuttings bioremediation. The remediation process was effectuated using dry and decomposed raffia palm. The experiment was carried out at the research Centre located at Agricultural and Environmental Engineering departmental workshop in Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. Samples of oil-based drill cuttings were bulked in eleven reactors with four replications (T1, T2, T3-T11). …

Bioremediation of Oil-Spilled Sites through Seeding Naturally Adapted Pseudomonas putida
Abstract: In the present study, crude oil degradation was analyzed using isolated bacterial strains. These bacterial strains were isolated from the crude-oil-contaminated soil sample. All the isolates were identified as species of Pseudomonas, in which the Pseudomonas putida P11 and LP1 demonstrated a strong ability to degrade kerosene, gasoline, diesel, engine oil and crude oil. Bioremediation for oil spill cleanup was analyzed by the inoculation of P. putida with the addition …

In Vitro Evaluation of Bioremediation Capacity of a Commercial Probiotic, Bacillus clausii, for Chromium (VI) and Lead (II) Toxicity
Abstract: Heavy metals cause disastrous effects on any living organisms. Probiotics have the ability to reduce metal toxicity. Commercial probiotics having bioremediation capacity can use these bacteria as an alternative to conventional remediation methods. The bioaccumulation of heavy metals including chromium (VI) (Cr [VI]) and lead (II) (Pb [II]) causes fatal toxicity in humans. Some naturally occurring bacterial species, such as Bacillus and Pseudomonas, contribute their role in bioremediation of these …
