Ensuring Long-Term Durability and Resilience in Concrete Structures
Abstract: Abstract Durable concrete refers to a type of concrete that can effectively resist weathering over a prolongedperiod, maintaining its structural integrity and functionality. Weathering actions include physical, chemical, and environmental factors, such as temperature variations, freeze-thaw cycles, moisture ingress, and exposure to aggressive chemicals. Concrete durability is critical for ensuring the long-term performance and safety of structures. Rainwater, when mixed with air, often contains dissolved gases and chemicals that can penetrate …

Selection of Grade of Concrete & Grade of Steel
Abstract: Abstract In structural engineering, understanding the load distribution between steel and concrete is crucialfor ensuring the safety and stability of reinforced concrete structures. The load-bearing capacity ofboth materials, steel and concrete, is dependent on their respective characteristic strengths, whichinclude compressive, tensile, bending, and shear strengths. The behavior of a reinforced concretestructure under various loads is influenced by the interaction between these two materials, wheresteel typically handles tensile and bending stresses, …

Effect of Bacillus Subtilis on Corrosion of Steel in Reinforced Cement Concrete
Abstract: Abstract Concrete is one of the most used building materials due to its cost- effectiveness, ease of availability, and versatility. It is the backbone of modern construction, being widely applied in infrastructure, residential, and commercial projects. However, it is particularly vulnerable to crack formation, which significantly reduces its service life. These cracks compromise structural integrity by allowing water ingress, which leads to the corrosion of reinforcing steel, eventually making the …
