Fabrication and characterization of Aluminum-Granite-Graphite Metal Matrix Composite
Abstract: Moving machine elements are constantly subjected to wear and tear. Machine life can be improved by using hard and wear resistant materials. Most of machine elements are made of metals or alloys. These materials alone cannot meet the requirements of design of long-life machines. Mechanical and Microstructure Properties of Al and SiC Reinforced Aluminum-Based Metal Matrix Composite
Abstract: It is becoming increasingly difficult to design new technical materials that are resistant to wear damage and corrosion degradation in severe service circumstances. Unfortunately, even with crucial passive metals, like Al alloys, there is often a compromise between wear and corrosion resistance. Because of the unfavorable galvanic connection between the precipitates and the matrix, precipitates not only harden the material but also accelerate corrosion. This research established that a supersaturated …

Nanocoating and Electrospraying Techniques Used for Corrosion Mitigation of Aluminum in Nitrogen dioxide Environment
Abstract: Nitrogen gas absorbs moist air to produce nitric acid. It develops acidic medium for aluminum. It forms a corrosion cell on the surface of aluminum. The formation of corrosion cell is written as: Al|Al+3||H+|H2 thus Corrosion reactions accelerate on aluminum surface and Al is oxidized into Al+3 and the H+ ions is reduced into H2. This acid produces various forms of corrosion in aluminum like galvanic, pitting, stress, crevice, blistering, …

Role and Application of Aluminum Alloys
Abstract: Alloy wheels are wheels that are made from an alloy of aluminum or magnesium. Alloys are mixtures of metal and other elements. They generally provide greater strength over pure metals, which are usually much softer and more ductile. Aircraft manufacturers use high-strength alloys (principally alloy 7075) to strengthen aluminum aircraft structures. Aluminum alloy 7075 has Copper (1.6 %), Magnesium (2.5 %) and zinc (5.6 %) added for ultimate strength, but …
