Abstract
Introduction:This study aimed to assess the challenges experienced by pediatric nurses during the preparation and administration of pediatric medications at a selected hospital in Bhilai. Methods:A descriptive research design was used. A total of 100 staff nurses working in pediatric wards were selected using convenience sampling. A self-structured checklist was used to assess challenges related to medication preparation and administration. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results:In the preparation of pediatric medications, 1% of nurses experienced mild challenges, 82% experienced moderate challenges, and 17% experienced severe challenges. Regarding the administration of pediatric medications, 2% experienced mild challenges, 69% experienced moderate challenges, and 29% experienced severe challenges. Conclusion:A significant association was found between challenges during medication preparation and selected demographic variables such as gender, overall experience, and duration of pediatric nursing experience (p < 0.05).
