Abstract
Background: A wound dressing can be developed to prevent the growth of microorganisms in and around the wound. These dressings are used when there are concerns about infection, as they help reduce the chances of infectious agents colonizing the wound site. Objectives: The aim of the study is to assess the knowledge regarding wound care among selected students in Hillside college of Nursing. Methodology: An evaluative research approach was chosen to examine the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on wound dressing. The study took place at Hillside College of Nursing in Bangalore, involving a total of 30 students. A simple random sampling technique was employed for participant selection in this study.. Population of this study was second year B.Sc. Nursing, Hillside College of Nursing. Results: Regarding the pre-test level of knowledge 5(16.66%) of respondents having inadequate knowledge, 22(73.33%) are having moderate knowledge, 3(10%) of them are having adequate knowledge. In terms of the post-test knowledge levels, none of the students displayed inadequate knowledge. Specifically, 8 students (26.66%) demonstrated a moderate level of knowledge, while 22 students (73.33%) exhibited adequate knowledge. The observed chi square value of selected demographic variable such as gender, religion, education, diet and previous knowledge are significant at 5% level (p <0.05) and are having association with the knowledge scores, hence hypothesis has accepted.
