Beetroot juice is a natural source of dietary nitrates, which may contribute to blood pressure reduction and improved cardiovascular function by enhancing nitric oxide production. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of beetroot juice in lowering blood pressure among hypertensive patients. A quasi-experimental research design was adopted, specifically a one-group pre-test and post-test control group format. A total of 60 participants diagnosed with hypertension were selected using non-probability convenience sampling from a community area in Punjab. The participants were divided into an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). The experimental group received 250 ml of beetroot juice daily. Pre-intervention, the mean systolic blood pressure (SBP) in the experimental group was 149.27 ± 9.54 mm Hg, and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) was 99.53 ± 10.04 mm Hg. Post-intervention, the mean SBP and DBP decreased significantly by 24.20 mm Hg and 21.87 mm Hg, respectively, with p-values <0.001, indicating a highly significant reduction. No significant changes were observed in the control group. The findings suggest that daily consumption of beetroot juice significantly reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive individuals. The results support the use of beetroot juice as a natural, dietary intervention for managing hypertension and improving cardiovascular health.
