Bioremediation of Oil-Spilled Sites through Seeding Naturally Adapted Pseudomonas putida
Abstract: In the present study, crude oil degradation was analyzed using isolated bacterial strains. These bacterial strains were isolated from the crude-oil-contaminated soil sample. All the isolates were identified as species of Pseudomonas, in which the Pseudomonas putida P11 and LP1 demonstrated a strong ability to degrade kerosene, gasoline, diesel, engine oil and crude oil. Bioremediation for oil spill cleanup was analyzed by the inoculation of P. putida with the addition …

Correlation between full width at half maximum (FWHM) of XRD peak with mechanical properties
Abstract: Full width at half maximum (FWHM) of XRD profiles characterizes different mechanical properties. However, there is no literature available that discusses about the correlation between the FWHM of XRD peaks with mechanical properties (ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, strain hardening coefficient and micro-hardness) upon plastic deformation. Martensitic stainless steel (type 410) and Ferritic stainless steel (type 430) samples were plastically deformed under different strain rate using tensile testing machine. Variation …

In Vitro Evaluation of Bioremediation Capacity of a Commercial Probiotic, Bacillus clausii, for Chromium (VI) and Lead (II) Toxicity
Abstract: Heavy metals cause disastrous effects on any living organisms. Probiotics have the ability to reduce metal toxicity. Commercial probiotics having bioremediation capacity can use these bacteria as an alternative to conventional remediation methods. The bioaccumulation of heavy metals including chromium (VI) (Cr [VI]) and lead (II) (Pb [II]) causes fatal toxicity in humans. Some naturally occurring bacterial species, such as Bacillus and Pseudomonas, contribute their role in bioremediation of these …

Advanced Magnesium-Based Metallic GlassComposites for Biomedical Implant Applications: AMachine-Learning-Informed Approach
Abstract: Magnesium-based bulk metallic glasses (Mg-BMGs) combine strength, low density, and tunable degradability. Their amorphous matrix has a small plastic process zone. This zone is only about 4 μm wide. A small process zone keeps most glasses brittle. Adding a second phase is the best fix. This chapter extends Mg-BMGs to true composites. We call these Mg-based bulk metallic glass composites, or Mg- BMGCs. The chapter covers matrix engineering and interfacial …

Synthesis, Structural Elucidation, and Antimicrobial Screening of a Cobalt (II) Coordination Compound Derived from a Thiophene-Containing Schiff Base
Abstract: Abstract An N, O-chelating azomethine Schiff base ligand (HL), chemically identified as 2-{[(thiophen-2-yl) methylidene] amino} benzoic acid, was synthesized by an equimolar condensation reaction between thiophene-2-carbaldehyde and anthranilic acid in absolute ethanol in the presence of a catalytic amount of acetic acid. The corresponding cobalt (II) complex, formulated as [Co(L)₂] · 2H₂O, was prepared by refluxing two equivalents of the ligand with one equivalent of cobalt (II) acetate tetrahydrate in …
